Priority: Business Issues

Florida Realtors Watches for Rules that Could Affect Your Business

Inspections, permits, contracts, lenders, advertising, listings, disclosures, etc. are just a small sampling of the types of subjects we monitor.

Real estate transactions are a series of business processes that occur in the framework of laws and regulations. The end result of these transactions is often a happy new family moving into their new home or a business that just expanded to a new location.

But the processes behind these happy outcomes are vast, complex and often very nuanced.

Inspections, permits, contracts, lenders, advertising, listings, disclosures, etc. are just a small sampling of the types of subjects covered by our business issues public policy efforts.

And if a new law is going to affect these or any other part of a real estate transaction or business operation of a Realtor then we are going to watch it closely and analyze its potential impact.

But we also want to find ways to improve these business processes and make things easier on buyers, sellers and the Realtors involved in the transactions.

This is why Florida Realtors has been very active in adopting and carrying out motions related to business issues.

For example, Florida Realtors has a standing policy to oppose legislation that would require any public recording of social security numbers and their use on documents that are available to the public.

We have also pushed for Mandatory Property Condition Disclosures that would be provided by a seller.
