Priority: Commercial Real Estate

Florida Realtors Monitors Actions Affecting Commercial Realtors

We are focused on protecting the rights of the sellers, buyers and agents involved in these transactions.

Business Rent Tax Reduction

The 2017 legislative session produced the first-ever cut to the state tax on commercial leases, otherwise known as the Business Rent Tax (BRT). In 2018, the Florida Legislature further reduced the tax while also creating a BRT tax credit program.

Commercial properties — restaurants, shopping centers, industrial parks, and more — are as important to local communities as residential homes. Florida Realtors stays focused on protecting the rights of the sellers, buyers and agents involved in these transactions.

Many of the policy positions our members have adopted over the years regarding real estate laws and regulations have directly supported the buying and selling of both commercial and residential real estate.

Florida Realtors will also be closely monitoring all legislative actions that could affect commercial Realtors and the buyers and sellers they serve.
