What is a Florida Realtors Board Certified Professional?

Board Certified Logo

Almost half a million Floridians possess a real estate license. Another 238,000 practitioners adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and therefore earn the title of “Realtor.” Of those 238,000, just 20 are Florida Realtors Board Certified Professionals.

Florida Realtors, the largest professional trade association in the state and the largest state Realtor organization in the country, established the Florida Realtors Board Certified Professional endorsement in 2023 as a way to acknowledge Realtor members who work at the highest level of real estate professionalism.

Board Certified Professional applicants are evaluated by a cross-section of their peers to see if they meet a rigorous bar set on:

  • Competence and professionalism
  • Transactional knowledge
  • Community involvement
  • Advocacy efforts
  • Adherence to legal and ethical standards
  • Number and volume of real estate transactions

Only a select few — 20 in our 2023 inaugural class — rose to the high level of excellence required to be endorsed by Florida Realtors as a Board Certified Professional.

How Florida Board Certified Professionals are Selected?

Almost half a million Floridians possess a real estate license. Another 238,000 practitioners adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and therefore earn the title of “Realtor.” Of those 238,000, just 20 are Florida Realtors Board Certified Professionals.

Florida Realtors, the largest professional trade association in the state and the largest state Realtor organization in the country, established the Florida Realtors Board Certified Professional endorsement in 2023 as a way to acknowledge Realtor members who work at the highest level of real estate professionalism.

With so many new real estate licensees entering the profession each year, Florida Realtors knew it needed a way to not only honor those Realtors working at the peak of their profession but to create a benchmark to inspire those new agents.

In 2017, a Florida Realtors presidential advisory group was formed to discuss industry professionalism and eventually turned its focus to developing a set of measurable criteria that could be used to evaluate Realtors. In 2023, the Florida Realtors Board Certified Professional endorsement was launched as a way to certify “the best of the best” in the Florida real estate industry.

A point system is used to rate each applicant’s education, community service, and support of home ownership. They can also earn points by obtaining testimonials from brokers, peers, and consumers, and showing in-depth knowledge of the contractual details of real estate transactions.

Then the Florida Realtors Board Certified Professionalism Endorsement Trustee Group reviews each applicant’s scores, and those that meet the criteria move on to the final step: a 15-question one-on-one interview with a panel of key association stakeholders appointed by the president.
